Tetracycline is an older antibiotic that was used in the aquarium hobby many decades ago until it was replaced by a more stable product, Oxytetracycline. This fish medication is not stable in an aquarium with high calcium levels or where pH is 7.6 or higher. Further, it should not be used on fish that have been exposed to ammonia or nitrite as this could create an issue with iron levels and lead to anemia in your fish.
