Our Freeze Dried Copepods (Apocyclops royi) are a high quality zooplankton food suitable for a wide range of freshwater and saltwater species. Unlike wild harvested copepods, ours are cultured in closely monitored coastal ponds, ensuring a consistent, contaminant free product of reliable quality. Once harvested they are carefully screened, rinsed, and freeze dried to lock in their nutritional value, resulting in a clean and convenient food that stores easily without refrigeration.

A Note on Packaging Our Freeze Dried Copepods are exceptionally light and airy by nature. Do not be surprised by the jar size relative to the product weight. A 0.25 ounce portion is packaged in a 2 ounce jar, 0.5 ounce in a 4 ounce jar, 1 ounce in an 8 ounce jar, 2 ounces in a 16 ounce jar, and 4 ounces in a 32 ounce jar. This is completely normal for freeze dried copepods and ensures the product arrives intact and undamaged.

Who Are They For? With a protein content of 57%, these copepods are an outstanding food for fry and juvenile fish that need concentrated nutrition to support rapid growth and development. Their small size makes them ideal for species with smaller mouths including tetras, rams, juvenile angelfish and discus, nano fish, aquatic frogs, and coral. They make an excellent and convenient alternative to hatching live brine shrimp, delivering comparable nutrition without the time and effort of a hatchery setup. Suitable for both freshwater and marine applications.

Important Feeding Note Always rehydrate copepods before feeding. Adding them dry directly to the aquarium can lead to intestinal issues in fish. To rehydrate, simply place the desired amount in a small container with a little tank water and allow to soak for a few minutes before offering to your fish or coral.

How to Feed Once rehydrated offer only what can be consumed within a few minutes. Remove any uneaten portions promptly to maintain water quality.

Storage Store in a cool dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. No refrigeration required. The freeze drying process preserves nutritional value and freshness without the need for refrigeration.
