Decapsulated Eggs

Price range: $5.00 through $37.00

Decapsulated brine shrimp eggs, commonly known as decaps, are non-hatching artemia cysts with the hard outer shell removed, making them immediately ready to feed without hatching. Nutrient dense and easy to digest, they make an ideal first food for fry, nano fish, and corals straight from the jar.

Description

Decapsulated Artemia Cyst, a Ready-to-Feed Nutrition for Fry & Coral

Harvested from the unique ecosystem of The Great Salt Lake in Utah, these decapsulated artemia cysts, commonly called decaps in the hobby, are specially processed non-hatching brine shrimp eggs designed for direct use as fish and coral food. Unlike standard brine shrimp eggs that require hatching before feeding, our decapsulated cysts are ready to use straight from the jar.

What is Decapsulation? Decapsulation removes the hard outer shell of the cyst, leaving the living embryo protected by just a thin, permeable membrane. This membrane allows the embryo to absorb water while making each cyst small, soft, and easy for even the tiniest mouths to consume and eliminating the digestive issues that unprocessed shells can cause.

How They Behave in Your Tank When added to the aquarium, our decapsulated cysts initially float at the surface as they absorb water. Once they hydrate and become denser, they slowly sink and disperse through the water column, mimicking natural feeding conditions and encouraging active foraging behavior. For corals and other suspension feeders, we recommend pre-soaking the cysts in a small amount of tank water for a few minutes before adding them. This fully hydrates the cysts and makes their nutrients immediately accessible.

A Nutritional Powerhouse Each cyst is packed with lipids, amino acids, and enzymes to provide the building blocks your fry and coral polyps need for healthy development, strong immune function, and vibrant coloration. Our decapsulated cysts are one of the most nutrient-dense natural foods available for small aquatic life.

Storage Keep refrigerated to preserve nutritional quality. Exposure to room temperature accelerates nutrient degradation, so always return the jar to the fridge after each feeding session.
