A precision sized neutrally buoyant fry food and coral feed trusted by commercial breeders and serious hobbyists for replacing live foods at every stage of fry development. Krill is the second ingredient at 23% of the formula, alongside fish roe, micro algae, and squid meal, delivering 55% protein and exceptional nutritional density across six precisely sized options ranging from 5 micron to 800 micron.

Description

The Live Food Replacement That Actually Works

Golden Pearls are a precision sized, neutrally buoyant fry food and coral feed that has successfully replaced live foods in commercial hatcheries, marine breeding facilities, and home aquariums around the world. The key to their effectiveness is a patented processing technique that traps tiny air pockets within each sphere, keeping the granules suspended in the water column and moving with the current to mimic the behavior of live plankton. Unlike most inert feeds that sink quickly to the bottom before fry can reach them, Golden Pearls stay where the fry are.

Premium Krill Based Nutrition Krill makes up 23% of the formula as the second ingredient, alongside marine fish, fish roe, micro algae, squid meal, and yeast autolysate. At 55% protein with meaningful levels of Vitamin C at 2,550ppm, Vitamin E at 425ppm, EPA at 10mg/g, and DHA at 12mg/g this is a genuinely complete nutritional profile for fry and filter feeding organisms at any stage of development.

Choosing the Right Size Matching the granule size to the size of your fry or target organism is essential for success with Golden Pearls. Here is a guide to selecting the right size:

5-50 micron is a fine powder similar in consistency to talcum powder. Used as a live food replacement in commercial hatcheries, as a coral and filter feeder food, and as a first food for the smallest fry of any species.

50-100 micron is suited for target feeding corals and reef systems, and as a fry food for rainbowfish, bettas, rams, and other species with particularly small fry that are difficult to feed.

100-200 micron is used as a rotifer replacement, for reef systems, and as a fry food for kribs and other species whose fry need a slightly larger bite than the smallest sizes provide.

200-300 micron is used as a mysis replacement, for reef tanks, and as a fry food for egg layers at the appropriate developmental stage.

300-500 micron is designed as an Artemia replacement since newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii average approximately 400 microns. An excellent choice for breeders who prefer not to hatch live foods, and for transitioning fry off live baby brine shrimp to a prepared food.

500-800 micron is slightly larger than newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii. Used in reef systems to trigger finicky fish that normally feed on plankton, as a size step up for fry being transitioned from live brine shrimp, and as a fry food for angelfish, discus, and most tetras.

How to Feed Sprinkle pearls over the water surface or mix the desired amount in a small container of tank water to use a pipette or turkey baster for target feeding. Remove any uneaten portions from fry tanks by siphoning a few hours after feeding.

Storage Store in a cool dry place in a sealed container. A little goes a long way, particularly with the smaller sizes.

Nice to have a Krill based Golden Pearl to compliment the Brine Shrimp based Golden Pearls I have been using for 8 years
